How the Collins Memorial Food Pantry Brings Hope in a Grocery Bag

Collins Memorial Food Pantry

When word spread that Westside Table had acquired the former Collins Memorial United Methodist Church property on Bolton Road, one question kept coming up:

“You’re keeping the food pantry, right?”

We’re proud to say—yes! The Collins Memorial Food Pantry not only continues, but it has become a cornerstone of Westside Table’s mission to serve our neighbors in the Bolton and Riverside communities of Northwest Atlanta.

Every Friday, dozens of families gather in our church parking lot to “shop the pantry.” All groceries are completely free of charge, but what sets this pantry apart is our client-choice model. Instead of receiving pre-packed bags, guests can select the items their families need most—just like shopping in a grocery store. It’s a respectful, dignified experience that honors each family’s unique needs and preferences.

In 2023 alone, the Collins Memorial Food Pantry distributed more than 600,000 pounds of food through partnerships with the Atlanta Community Food Bank, and local businesses.

Founded in 2009 in response to the economic crisis, the pantry has become a vital source of hope and help on Bolton Road. It’s more than just a one-day event—it’s a year-round ministry powered by more than 40 dedicated volunteers who give their time and energy to prepare the space and welcome guests every week.

At Westside Table, we believe the Collins Memorial Food Pantry reflects the heart of who we are: a church with and for our neighbors. We trust that God provides—and in response to that generosity, we’re called to share with others.
